Happy Presidents Day!!

Today was Presidents Day. I had the day off from work but did some much needed cleaning that needed to be done around the house. It all seems to pile up so fast for some reason. My dad and I went out to lunch which was nice. We don't get to do that too often. It was nice to sit and catch up

I was just reading an article on MSNBC about who was our best president. Number 1 out of 42 was Abraham Lincoln. No surprise here. He's been a favorite of mine ever since I found out in elementary school that his birthday was in the same month as mine, February. His 200th birthday was just celebrated last week. After Lincoln, George Washington was #2. Also no surprise, since his birthday is also in the same month as mine. Also, he was our first president, so he should be up towards the top of the list.

The remaining presidents are ranked as follows:

Franklin D. Roosevelt: 3
Theodore Roosevelt: 4
Harry S. Truman: 5
John F. Kennedy: 6
Thomas Jefferson: 7
Dwight D. Eisenhower: 8
Woodrow Wilson: 9
Ronald Reagan: 10
Lyndon B. Johnson: 11
James K. Polk: 12
Andrew Jackson: 13
James Monroe: 14
Bill Clinton: 15
William McKinley: 16
John Adams: 17
George H.W. Bush: 18
John Quincy Adams: 19
James Madison: 20
Grover Cleveland: 21
Gerald R. Ford: 22
Ulysses S. Grant: 23
William Howard Taft: 24
Jimmy Carter: 25
Calvin Coolidge: 26
Richard M. Nixon: 27
James A. Garfield: 28
Zachary Taylor: 29
Benjamin Harrison: 30
Martin Van Buren: 31
Chester A. Arthur: 32
Rutherford B. Hayes: 33
Herbert Hoover: 34
John Tyler: 35
George W. Bush: 36
Millard Fillmore: 37
Warren G. Harding: 38
William Henry Harrison: 39
Franklin D. Pierce: 40
Andrew Johnson: 41
James Buchanan: 42

I find it very interesting that the presidents that we have had more recently were found lower on the list. It will be interesting to find out how our newest president, Barack Obama, ranks in 4 years.

Anyway, Happy Presidents Day. Got to go have my cherry pie!! ( in honor of George Washington)

American Fork Biggest Loser

American Fork City is doing a Biggest Loser Contest for their Steel Days Celebration this year. I just signed up for it. I just need to get a bit more motivation on losing weight. The winner will get $600 and a year membership to the rec center. From the AF website, it looks like you are basically on your own with diet and exercise but go in once a month to weigh it. The first weigh in is on February 28th. After that, each weigh in will eliminate people until there is only 5 people left by the time Steel Days starts in July. I'm still going to keep going to my exercise classes such as sports conditioning and cycling. Also, I plan to enter some 5 K races as well. I'll keep you posted on how I do.

Cousins night out

Last night, we had another cousins night out. We usually go out the 3rd Saturday of the month but someone couldn't make it next week so we scheduled it for yesterday instead. None of us had Valentines so we decided to go do something together. Margel, Kaylynne, Tonja, her daugher Kalista, Mitzy, her daughter Jennifer, and Celeste, my cousin Rhae Lynns daughter. We went to see "Confessions of an Shopaholic" and the Jordan Commons theatre in Sandy. The movie was pretty good, not an Oscar winner or one I would buy, but pretty good. Afterwards, we went to Mimi's Cafe in Sandy for dinner. It was nice to get together and catch up. I hope we can keep it going and have more people come.

Super Bowl and other things

Well, if you haven't heard by now, the Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl last week!!! The final score was Steelers 27 Cardinals 23. I got a bit worried when the Cardinals got a touchdown about 2 and a half minutes before the end of the game giving them the lead. But my Steelers got a touchdown in the last few seconds of the game and won!!! It was one of the best Super Bowls I've ever seen. The experts are saying that it is one of the top 10 of all time. I don't like games that are blowouts, even if I like the winning team. I usually don't watch the entire game but I sure watched this one. I'm glad I did.

Monday, was my birthday. It came whether I wanted it to or not. I don't know why I have to get older. I still feel like I should be in my 20's. On Thursday, I went to dinner with my dad, my brother Robert and his wife Natalee and their kids, Tobyn, Kordell, and Ruthie, and my brother Alton and his wife Kim. I decided to go to Chili's. It was really good. Afterwards, we went back to our house for cake and ice cream. I always like to enjoy being with my family for my birthday.
